Ex Ex Ex

A feature film by Ryan Balas & Dee Herlihy

Can a movie about Divorce also be a Christmas Movie?! We at least tried.

An intimate look at the end of a real marriage through a semi-fictional / heavy meta re-telling by two filmmakers, who met and fell in love while in acting school.

Set around Christmas time, this is the melancholy end to a loose trilogy about Marriage by Ryan Balas & Dee Herlihy, which includes the first two entries “Ice Saints” and “Our House for the Weekend”.

Part hybrid-documentary, part personal narrative this character study will challenge your reality in some of the same ways the end of a romantic relationship might.

“Deirdre and I spent our twenties making films together, so when our relationship began to fall apart in our thirties, we did the only thing we knew how to do…make a film about it. Both wildly personal, and objectively just a movie, we poured our hearts into this mess and while the world was staying inside for covid, we dug inward even deeper. It’s no miracle we remain close friends and equally proud of the work we created together. We worked hard to make sure the work could have a meaningful life of it’s own.”
